Dick Blue as Crystal French and Gaylord as Toilet Pig

Figure 1(a)

Things have really shifted here in California, Land of the Fruits and Nuts. A magical collaboration has been taking place between our very own Mrs. The Capt'n and Gaylord of The Gaylord Rehabilitation Center. I feel a real "shift" is happening. Earthquake? I'd say tsunami, my friend. The Mrs. has been pushing the limits of extended vocal technique by singing (frighteningly beautifully) under water. What? Yes chil'rens, that is correct. Added bonus: she even look killer doin' it, OKAAY?
Gaylord, in the meantime, did a highly fruitful artist residency at Team Shredder, which included learning the lesbo-ish duet from Lakme in one day, and then singing her half while praying to the porcelain Goddess, as shown in figure 1(a.) Look who's the sniper now. Of particular note is her outfit, which included Lee jeans customized with 2 big circles cut out of the ass cheeks (chaps are so '98,) an interesting brown suede vest jacket, and knee pads. I feel that Gaylord has really turned a corner in her development as an artist.
For further details of this magical duet, plus their larger-scale interactive composition/installation in a pool in Palm Springs, please refer to Aquatic Operas.

Capitalism, you are on my last gay nerve.

The Terrible Beauty

Our dear friend Andrew Infanti paid us a visit from gay Paree. Here we see Roux pictured with The Mrs., after a performance they once gave of our other dear friend Sean Griffin's The Snow Queen. We can't claim to be the only draw, though. He was technically here to do some recording sessions with Mrs. Griffin, who is lately collaborating quite heavily with Catherine Sullivan. But anyway, we did get to snag Roux for a few bits, most notably when he and The Mrs. threw a soiree at the headquarters of Team Shredder. Roux is an extremely brilliant pianist, including as an accompanist, which most brilliant pianists are not, and I don't need to tell you again about the brilliance of The Mrs., because I trust that at this point you get the drift. Juliana and Andrew have a particular love and feeling for Henri Duparc's 17, and I've never heard anybody do them better. At the soiree they gave us 7 of the songs, 7 of the most beautiful songs ever written, and I only wish I was a writer or somebody who could explain in words the almost unbearable, terrible beauty of what went down that night, dear reader.
What's going on here?
Juliana Snapper is developing the world's first underwater opera.

Oh Bubbles. Rest in Searing Cosmic Coloratura Noise

Beverly Sills, the acclaimed Brooklyn-born coloratura soprano who was more popular with the American public than any opera singer since Enrico Caruso, even among people who never set foot in an opera house, died last night at her home in Manhattan. She was 78.

Juliana Snapper and Paula Cronan performed Cavatina-Crumpletta, their new piece for soprano and percussion, at Edge Fest LA

and all they got was this lousy T-shirt. Actually, they didn't even get the shirt, since the festival was only selling old festival shirts from 2002. But what they did get was a chance to try out their brand spanking new piece for the first time, in a relatively low-key environment. They then got to feel extremely pleased with themselves afterwards, having delivered a killer performance. The phrase that comes to mind is Eye of the Tiger.

I am the Tiger. Look into my eyes.
